‘REFUGEES ARE PEOPLE, NOT STATISTICS’
The book gives us a window into the lives and stories of refugees and how they struggle to survive against all odds; deprived of legal protection and without any rights. They live with the memories of the trauma they have been and the stress of the insecurity and uncertainty of their future
The issues raised on refugee protection go far beyond the immediate problem and touch on India’s foreign policies and Indian democracy. A conversation between Ghazala Wahab, a specialist in Indian security and Nandita Haksar who set precedents in refugee law and developed courses on human rights and refugee protection should prove to add to the ongoing debate on politics of refugee protection; especially when we see the racist attitudes of the West exposed during the war in Ukraine.
You are cordially invited.
